Celebrating Diversity by the Multicultural Women's Art Group
To coincide with Refugee Week 2021: Sunday 20 June to Saturday 26 June
The Multicultural Women’s Art Group launched in March 2021, offering a creative workshop program for women with multicultural backgrounds. A partnership developed by STARTTS, Create Hub Riverina and local artist Elaine Camlin, these sessions bring together women further impacted by disconnection during Covid-19 and provide a safe and informal experience to develop and foster positive relationships within our diverse communities.
Each week participants are supported to explore their own creative expression, through printmaking, watercolour, paper craft, clay, stitching and drawing activities. These sessions foster positive recovery and promote health and wellbeing through friendship, connection and creativity, and draws on the experiences of women from Iraq, Taiwan, Iran and South Africa.
Creative expression has been embraced as a healing process in many cultures and each woman is encouraged and supported to share their own cultural creative practices with the group.
